The Missions Committee of St. John’s is a very active group. They strive to serve God through the blessing of interpersonal relationships on both a local and global level. We have organized many projects recently whereby we have established connections with people who live far away from Springfield! Our goals for this year’s projects are three fold:

Our hope is to help the congregation learn some new dimensions of various places in the world, both Old World and New World. Some of our recent projects include:

Caregivers Interfaith Volunteer Service

CIVS is part of St. John’s Hospital Third Age Living Network, and our church is a member of CIVS. If you know anyone or you are 55 years of age or older and need help with companionship / visits, yard work, transportation / escort, grocery shopping for / with person, light housework / laundry, religious service / activities, home maintenance / repair and many other services, call CIVS at 757-6621.

We also need members to volunteer for this program. You can volunteer to help just people from our church, or anyone. I recently had a call for transport from one of our church family and did not have an available volunteer to help. I had to call CIVS and ask that they contact another church. If you would like to become part of the volunteer team for St. John’s Lutheran Church, call 757-6621. It gives you a good feeling to help others.
