Children and Family Ministry believes that parents are the best faith teachers their children will ever have! St. John's partners with parents and caregivers as they teach, model, and share Jesus Christ with their children and family. We are better when we do life together!

Check out our new parenting resources outside Sam’s office! We have guidebooks for each phase of your child’s life from the time they are born until they graduate high school. If you’d like to know how you can get one of these books for yourself, please talk to Sam Neahring.

THANK YOU, DISCIPLES! Thank you to everyone who volunteered, hosted a trunk,or donated candy for our Trunk-or-Treat event! Your community effort is very appreciated.

Current Offerings

Sunday School

Preschool-6th grade meet in the Parish Life Center at 9:15 a.m. during the school year for an energetic, fun opening. Following the opening, classes continue downstairs.

Every Whirl Lectionary lesson follows a four-part sequence: Welcome, Hear, Respond, and Launch (WHRL!). Each week, kids and leaders start their time together by identifying where they are in the church year and watching an animated video. Next, they dive into the Whirl Story Bible or Whirl NRSV Bible, respond to the scripture lesson with creative leaflet activities, and circle up to review the lesson and pray before being sent out.

The lesson videos are designed to set up the lesson each Sunday. Kids watch animated characters their own age encounter real questions and challenges as they live out their faith. The videos are designed to help kids start thinking about what they would do in similar situations, instead of telling kids what to do.

4 year olds to those who have just completed 4th grade are encouraged to join us for VBS next summer. Stay tuned for more information.

 “My Bible” Class

Parents and their 3rd graders are invited to come together to live out their baptismal promises by learning how to use and understand God's word. Dinner is served during Sprout! on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-6:15 p.m. before classes.

The Gospel According to Dr. Seuss

It turns out that Dr. Seuss is quite the theologian! 4th and 5th graders are invited to join us during Sprout! this fall as we explore Dr. Seuss’ works as Jesus’ disciples. Campfires and s’mores when the weather allows.
