2 Kings 4:42-44 (ESV)

42 A man came from Baal-shalishah, bringing the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley and fresh ears of grain in his sack. And Elisha said, “Give to the men, that they may eat.” 43 But his servant said, “How can I set this before a hundred men?” So he repeated, “Give them to the men, that they may eat, for thus says the Lord, ‘They shall eat and have some left.’” 44 So he set it before them. And they ate and had some left, according to the word of the Lord.

Reflection

Was there ever a time in your life when you felt as if a blessing

was beyond anything you could imagine, when you thought

there would be things to appreciate, but you’re overwhelmed

with love and appreciation? I believe that is how the people felt

in today’s reading from 2 Kings.

We are reminded daily of all the promises God has kept to us.

We may not always get exactly what we ask for, but we always

get what we need. God knows exactly what we are praying for

before we even think of it ourselves. Every single day we are

gifted with an abundance of blessings and we should praise the

Lord for everything we have.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for everything you provide for me

and for always keeping your promise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
