Easter Weekend Pastor's Message

“We are witnesses to all that he did both in Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree; but God raised him on the third day and allowed him to appear”

(Acts 10:39-40).

WELCOME to St. John’s on this Easter Weekend! We are delighted to have you worship with us! Our congregation’s mission is to be and make disciples of Christ, in response to God’s grace. We live out this mission through RELATIONSHIP. In fact, our congregation’s vision statement is all about RELATIONSHIP

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church is called to grow in meaningful relationships with Christ, with each other, and with our community as we are gathered for worship, equipped for discipleship, and sent to care.

As a church that cares about relationship, we want to get to know you! Whether this is your first time here at St. John’s, whether you are returning after some time away, or whether you are a long-time disciple, we hope that you will fill out the pew cards in the sanctuary or the pew pads in the Parish Life Center. Share with us some information about yourself and how we can better serve you. In addition, don’t hesitate to ask one of our ushers, greeters, staff members (or even the person sitting beside you!), any questions you might have. If we don’t know the answer, we’ll find someone who does! We want your time here at St. John’s to be the best it can possibly be!

We also hope that you will join us for our Easter Breakfast in our Parish Life Center. Serving takes place from 8:30-9:30 a.m. This is a FREE breakfast prepared and served by our 21 confirmation students and their families. If you would like, you may share a free-will offering in the baskets on the tables to help send our confirmation students to confirmation camp this coming summer at Augustana College in Rock Island. Confirmation camp is a fun-packed week of growing in faith together through Bible Study, worship, small groups, service projects, and group outings. Thanks in advance for your support!

If you are a family with young children, know that we have a nursery available for any children ages 0-4 during all of our worship services. It is located near the Parish Life Center across from the restrooms. While children are always welcome in worship, our nursery is fully staffed and provides a safe and secure environment for our children if you would like. Paging devices are provided to the parents so that the nursery staff can reach you if needed.

Lastly, we hope that you will worship with us again soon. Each weekend, we offer four worship services – Saturday evening at 5:00 p.m.; Sunday morning at 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary; and a Contemporary Worship Service on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. in the Parish Life Center. In addition, education opportunities for all ages take place every Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m. Again, thanks for being here! We look forward to getting to know you and hope that you will worship us again soon!
