Ascension of Our Lord

It’s hard to believe that Summer is just around the corner. It seems like yesterday we were all complaining that it was snowing on Easter Sunday. But, as I look out the window in my office and see the trees and flowers in bloom, and the preschool kids playing in the grass, there is no doubt that summer is almost here.

Summer is filled with exciting things for many families. Vacations, spending time with family you don’t see often, traveling to the lake, camping, the list can go on and on. However, especially at church, there is one more thing that summer offers. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL!!

This July, we invite all kids ages 4 through those who have finished 4th grade to join us for Shipwrecked VBS, where we will have fun learning about how we are rescued by Jesus every time we feel stranded. We will play fun games, make fun crafts, discover Bible stories, and learn some fun songs as we travel with Hope, Beacon, Rae, Guac, and Moe, our animal friends! Shipwrecked VBS will be July 9 – 13, from 9:00- 11:30 a.m., with a family picnic Friday, July 13 at 5:30 p.m.

We are kicking off VBS registration this weekend here at St. John’s. During the 10:30 Contemporary service the children will be sharing a song from this year’s program. After the 10:30 services, there will be a table set up in the PLC Lobby for Registration. You can also sign up through the St. John’s website and under the Children Tab you will be able to find all the information you need, including registration forms. If you have any questions, please contact Sam Neahring, our Director of Children and Family Ministries at or at 793-3933.

Together in Christ,

P.S. Many volunteers are needed to make our Vacation Bible School happen. If you feel God calling you to share your faith with the multitude of kids that walk through our door that week, please talk to either Sam Neahring or myself.
