Pentecost 11

There is something about a meal that can change things. We are journeying through the “Bread of Life” series, where we are reminded how Jesus fed the five thousand and reminds all that he is the true bread from heaven. Through the Lord’s Supper, we are reminded that Jesus changed our lives forever by offering himself for our sins.

Meals also change things here, at St. John’s. This summer, we have gathered under the big tent on Wednesday nights to share in a meal. These meals have been a great way to get to know community members, and for a time of fellowship with fellow disciples here at St. John’s.

This Wednesday is our last meal of the summer. If you haven’t been able to join us, you are going to want to be here this week. The Leadership Board members are going to provide Brats and Hotdogs, and we ask that you bring a side dish to share. We’ll eat at 6:00 p.m., and after we eat, the real fun will begin. We will have all sorts of games for both kids and adults to join in.

As a special challenge to the congregation, the pastors are issuing a challenge to you, the disciples of St. John’s. We have ordered a dunk tank to be delivered on Wednesday and if more than 100 people show up, your pastors will get into the tank, and you can take turns trying to dunk a pastor. It will certainly be something you won’t want to miss.
