“I sought the Lord, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears”
Seeking God’s will is a difficult and challenging endeavor. It means intentionally searching God’s Word. It means intentionally listening to those around us, both those with whom we agree and those with whom we disagree. It means committing ourselves to staying together in community, with God and with each other, even if and when we don’t get our way or, even, all of our way. It means keeping an open heart, a heart willing to be changed if and when it is revealed to us that our heart and God’s heart are not in alignment. It is a challenging and, often times, exhausting exercise.
Seeking God’s will for our congregation is exactly the goal of the four informational forums being held over this week as we consider various options for moving forward with our building renovation project. Our first forum was held this past week and our remaining four forums will be held on the following dates and times:
- Saturday, August 11 6:15 p.m.
- Sunday, August 12 11:15 a.m.
- Monday, August 13 7:00 p.m.
- Sunday, August 19 11:15 a.m.
The purpose of these forums is to share with the congregation several different options for moving forward and to seek as much input from the congregation as possible into which option most aligns with God’s will for us over the coming years. This decision is one we need to make together and your presence and participation at one of these informational forums help us most faithfully discern where God is leading us.
Following the completion of the five forums and the compilation of the input that is shared, the Leadership Board will bring to the congregation a recommended option for us to vote on at the Special Congregational Meeting on Sunday, August 26 at 11:15 a.m. in the Parish Life Center. Again, your presence and participation at this meeting is vital in helping us make the best decision possible.
It is not about figuring out how to get our way, either yours or mine. It is about figuring out how to best achieve God’s way forward for us. Let’s figure out together where and how God is leading us.
