It is with much joy and thanksgiving that I share with you that we have successfully hired Sarah Hembrook to be our new full-time Director of Children and Family Ministries. Sarah will begin her new position with us on June 16.

Sarah, her husband Chad, and their two daughters Haylie and Taylor have been active disciples here at St. John’s since 2015. For the past three years, Sarah has worked as a teacher in our St. John’s Preschool. Originally from Minnesota, Sarah earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Prior to joining the staff of our St. John’s Preschool, Sarah taught in both Wisconsin and Illinois.

A life-long Lutheran, Sarah is passionate about engaging children and their families in their faith. In her own words, “I have a vested interest in seeing the children and family ministry at St. John’s succeed and grow. I want kids and their families to want to come to church and be involved.” Even though Sarah’s official start date is not until June 16, she is already hard at work preparing and planning for this summer’s ROAR Vacation Bible School.

As Director of Children and Family Ministries, Sarah will coordinate the ministries for all those from birth through sixth grade, including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, our midweek children’s programming, our preteen ministry, and more. In addition, Sarah will work to continue to build connections between our children’s ministry and the ministry of our St. John’s preschool.

Please join me and the rest of our St. John’s Leadership Board in welcoming Sarah! God has richly blessed us and our Children’s and Family Ministries in sending her to us! Welcome, Sarah!
