Pentecost 1 - Pastor's Message
“O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures” (Psalm 67:3).
Whenever I have good news to share with someone, I often fill like a little kid inside, bursting with joy and anticipation until finally I can share what I have been waiting to share. Today is one of those days! After months of long and prayer-filled deliberation, the Leadership Board has hired a new architect to work with us to develop a Campus Master Plan for our facilities and grounds, including the conceptual design of a first- phase construction project to be completed with the monies gathered through our ongoing three-year Be Bold Capital Campaign. Our new architect is Jaeger Nickola Kuhlman & Associates (JNKA) out of Park Ridge, Illinois. JNKA works exclusively with churches and has extensive master planning experience with a wide variety of church sizes and denominations. We are highly confident in our working relationship with JNKA and are very excited to work with them as we plan for the future of St. John’s together.
This coming week, each of you will receive in the mail a letter with more information, including a questionnaire seeking your input on needs and priorities for our campus over the coming years. We strongly encourage each of you to take the time to complete the survey and return it to the church office no later than Wednesday, June 26. The weekend of June 22-23 our architect team of David Kuhlman and Susan Maish will be on-site to experience worship with us as well as to interview a wide variety of ministry teams within the congregation, seeking further input on perceived needs and priorities. If you serve on one of the teams being interviewed, your presence and participation is both greatly needed and valued! The current timeline is for the development of a Completed Campus Master Plan to be presented to the congregation on Sunday, November 10 at a Special Congregational Town Hall Meeting. Two weeks later, on Sunday, November 24 we will gather for the Annual Meeting of the congregation at which time we hope to be ready to vote to proceed with the recommended Phase One Construction Project. After months of Spirit-filled waiting, we are moving forward again! What an exciting time it is to be Christ’s church here at St. John’s! Thank you for your continued openness to the Spirit’s leading as we live out God’s mission for us to be and make disciples of Christ, in response to God’s grace!
