Youtherans LITE, our 5th and 6th grade youth group, will be kicking off on Sunday, September 20! We will meet every Sunday from 9:45-10:30am. Just head down the stairs and sign in at the table! We’ll take it from there!
Our 3rd graders will receive their Bibles during Rally Day on September 13th. Bible class will begin on Sunday, September 20 from 4:45-6:00pm in the Meeting Room. This is a special class for both the students AND the parents! If you have not received a letter in the mail about this class but you are interested in attending, please reach out to Sarah Hembrook.
Sunday School & Youtherans LITE Registration
Registration for Sunday school will take place on Sunday, September 13th for all children ages 3 - 6th grade! Be sure to stop by the registration table and get your kids all set for the program year! It’s sure to be another great one!
All Sunday school teachers, both new and returning, are invited to attend a teacher training session on Sunday, August 23rd from 9:45-10:30am in Classroom A. There are some exciting changes coming to Sunday school this fall and we want you to know exactly what’s going on! If you are unable to attend, please contact Sarah to set up a different time to meet with her!

Blessing of the Backpacks
Remember to bring along your backpacks to worship on Sunday, August 16 to get them blessed before school starts! Be sure to start school off on the right foot and remember that God is always with you - even in Math class!

All Sunday School and Youtherans LITE parents are invited to join us on Sunday, May 31 at 9:30 for a parent meeting in Classroom C/D. We want to know what your child enjoyed about Sunday School and/or Youtherans LITE, what could be improved, and hear other thoughts and ideas! The last day of Youtherans LITE will be May 17. It has been another amazing year, especially welcoming our 7th & 8th graders to join Youtherans LITE! We hope all 5th-8th graders will join us in May for a Bible Study, Fun and Fellowship!
All of our wonderful Sunday School teachers and Children’s Ministry volunteers are invited to a Thank You Luncheon on Sunday, May 17 at Noon. If you have not RSVP’d to the email, please do so ASAP! We hope to see you all there to thank you for your dedication to children’s ministry. We couldn’t do it without you!

Mark your calendars for our annual Easter Egg Hunt happening on Saturday, April 4 from 8:30-10:00. Donuts and fruit will be served followed by a children’s message and the big hunt! This is a rain or shine event! No need to register, just come enjoy the morning with us!

After a few months of holding Youtherans LITE during the Sunday School hour, we have decided to go back to evenings. We hope to see all of our 5th-8th graders at Youtherans LITE from 6:30-7:30 pm on Sunday, February 15th! We look forward to enjoying a longer time together and more time for activities and fellowship!

Youtherans LITE field trip to Skateland
All of our 5th-8th graders are invited to join us for a field trip to Skateland on Sunday, February 1st from 1-3. The cost is $9 for entry and an additional $5 if skate rental is needed. Please send extra money for your child to purchase snacks or drinks. We will meet at St. Johns at 1:00 and head over to Skateland from there! Children can be picked up from St. John’s at 3:00. This is an RSVP event! Please email Sarah at shembrook@stjohns-springfield.org by January 25th if your child will be attending!

Our preschool-4th graders will be celebrating Christmas during Sunday school hour on December 21st. We will have 2 special guests to talk about Christmas in their countries, and we’ll have a snack and watch a Veggie Tales Christmas movie!

We will be holding a mandatory dress rehearsal for all children participating in the Christmas program. The dress rehearsal will take place on Saturday, December 13th from 10-11:00. Please make every effort to have your child in attendance! They will receive their costume for the program, and we’ll be running through it from start to finish! SET-UP ELVES - Come on Friday afternoon (Dec. 5) to transform the welcome center into Santa’s workshop, decorate the tables for breakfast and set up the crafts and games.
CLEAN-UP ELVES - After Santa leaves for the North Pole, help put everything back for worship the next day.
FOOD ELVES - Help with Breakfast in the Kitchen.
CRAFT ELVES - Make fun things with the kids to take home.
GAME ELVES - Play games with the kids
SHOPPING ELVES - Help the kids purchase and wrap presents for their family in Santa’s Christmas Store.
SANTA’S ELVES - Willing to help wherever Santa needs them.

Join us for our Thanksgiving worship event at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 23. We will offer thanks for God’s many blessings, especially the gift of time spent together as a community of disciples. We will meet in the sanctuary for worship, and as true disciples in motion, we will make our way to the Welcome Center for an extension of our worship, and finally, we will conclude the evening in the Parish Life Center as we enjoy some delicious pie! Don’t miss this opportunity to receive grace, offer gratitude, and eat pie!
