St. John’s currently offers over 50 different ministry teams. Each and everyday, disciples act courageously in a wide variety of ways, whether that is by connecting with our neighborhood, caring for the homeless, visiting the sick, or even changing the air-filters. Ministry Teams work together to accomplish a goal. They can come together for a one-time event or for ongoing ministry. As teams uphold the mission of St. John’s, they also foster member discipleship and team fellowship, caring for one another. If you have any questions, or would like to join a Ministry Team please contact Bridigit Williams at bwilliams@stjohns-springfield.org.

Looking forward - Would like to get more disciples involved in the care packages, specifically providing fresh baked goods to be included. Would like to offer assistance to HS parents on application/finance processes of preparing for college.

Gourmet Grace
Read More
Gourmet Grace serves God by sharing His love in preparing meals for the disciples of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Our group serves disciples who have had a serious illness/surgery, birth of child, etc. as referred by one of the pastors. We deliver a meal of at least a main dish, side, and dessert. The process involves notifying everyone in the group of a meal need, someone replying to volunteer, acceptance of volunteer, and supplying the volunteer with the personal (confidential) information of the recipient. The volunteer contacts the recipient to inquire of any allergies, food restrictions, and a mutually convenient time to deliver the meal. “A new command I give you; Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35 “Cooking is LOVE made visible.”

- Are your health, your attitude, or your relationships suffering?
- Are you adjusting to a new job, change in marital status, a serious illness, the death of a loved one, or a recent move?
- Would you like to have someone in your life who really cares?
Everyone goes through difficult times. Having someone to care, to listen, and to share God’s love with you can help you get through the confusion, stress, or loneliness you may be experiencing.

NEW DISCIPLE MINISTRY TEAM
Read More
This team focuses on establishing the best practices for welcoming new disciples into the community at St. John's. This includes managing the pool of potential sponsors, providing orientations for new sponsors, stewarding guidance documents, and pairing sponsors with new disciples. Meet- We meet before New Disciple classes start for meal planning and then several times as the classes progress to get sponsors in place. Sometimes we meet in person (often over a meal/snack) and sometimes it is through texts. Volunteers - The primary method current St. John's disciples can get involved with this team is through being a sponsor. We have a list of potential sponsors but can always use more. Because sponsors attend a dinner and service on different weekends, travel schedules sometimes limit the number of available sponsors. We can also use assistance with meal preparation/servicing as well if someone is interested in that.

Bell Choir
The Bells of Glory is an enthusiastic group of handbell players who enhance the sanctuary services with their music to the glory of our God. The BOG plays during worship on the third Sunday of the month, September – May. They also play during special services like Christmas Eve and Easter. St. John's has five octaves of Malmark handbells and three octaves of hand chimes. The majority of the selected music is geared towards a three-octave bell choir which requires about 12 dedicated players, plus substitutes. Players must be able to read music, preferably in both the treble and bass clef. Playing technique will be addressed during rehearsals, Thursday evenings from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. from late August through May. Every player is responsible for four or five specific bells. We therefore require each member to commit to at least one season, Fall or Spring, and be in attendance at the majority of the rehearsals and worship presentations.
