We are excited to invite you to join our Coffee Hospitality Team! We are looking for volunteers to help prepare coffee and set up the service station, greet guests at The Parlor, and be part of a welcoming community. As a team member, you will enjoy coffee, tea, and connecting with others. The time commitment is minimal, with just one short training session and at least one three-hour shift on a weekday morning each month. Join us in spreading warmth and hospitality to preschool parents, St. John’s disciples, and the community!

Fair Trade Coffee Sales
Sale of coffee, tea, olive oil and chocolate. Coffee sales happen once a month, usually on the second weekend of the month. One or two people are needed to conduct the sales. We need all disciples to purchase items!

Fair Trade Hand-crafted Item Sales
Sale of fair-trade hand-crafted items from artisans around the world. The sale usually happens once a year before Christmas. One or two people are needed to conduct the sales. We need all disciples to purchase items!

Lutheran World Relief Kits
Collecting items for the kits (usually personal care kits, but items for several different kits can be collected. The collection happens once a year in September and October. One or two people are needed to oversee the collection. Eight people are needed to assemble the kits All disciples are encouraged to purchase items needed for the kits

Lutheran World Relief Ingathering
The Ingathering happens yearly on the last Saturday of October Six people are needed to receive kits from churches in our area on the day of the Ingathering. Three people are needed to transport the boxes of kits to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington

Support of the Manatantely Bible School in Madagascar
This is ongoing, collection of money for special projects of the bible school. Correspond with the director of the bible school.

Possible future project of working with ‘Global refuge’
This ELCA organization helps resettle refugees. Currently, no details are known.

Little Free Library

Sharing your love of books and stories by helping stock the Little Free Library. Time commitment is for one year; each person selects a month to choose and stock books, which takes less than half an hour per week. The team meets briefly each quarter.

 

Little FreE Pantry

Read More

Providing food to those in need Meet twice a year. Commitment is about an hour. Volunteers fill pantry seven days a week and volunteers take turns filling. You can also provide food and/or money to the cause.

Sew comforting, helpful, and enjoyable items for people in need in our church, community and world, sharing tangible signs of God's love. Meets at 1:30 p.m. on the second Friday of the month in the PLC Lobby to share completed service projects, such as pillowcases for St. John's Women and Children's Center, baby blankets and toys for Ronald McDonald House, pockets for cancer patient drains, and school bags for Lutheran World Relief.
